The Chesapeake School Board is partnering with the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to conduct a search for the next superintendent of Chesapeake Public Schools.

The Chesapeake City School Board is now accepting applications for the district’s next Superintendent. The application window open from February 12 through March 12, 2026. The Board looks forward to a new tenure beginning July 1, 2026; please visit our Superintendent Search webpage for full application details.

January 12, 2026: Regular Meeting, Work Session (First Meeting with VSBA)
January 28, 2026: Deadline for Community Survey
February 9, 2026: Board Meets to Establish Qualifications
February 12 - March 12, 2026: Application Window
March 23, 2026: Regular Meeting, Closed Session (Second Meeting with VSBA)
April 2026: Interviews with Candidates
May 2026: Announcement of New Superintendent

Community Feedback

The School Board invited all community members to share their feedback by submitting the Superintendent Search survey. The deadline to provide input was January 28, 2026. Hard copies were also available by request.

In addition to the survey, the Board held a Special Meeting for the purpose of holding a public hearing to receive comments from the community on January 26, 2026. View the Special School Board Meeting & Public Hearing.
