Meet Tyanna Hodges, a rising senior at Oscar Smith High School, who is gaining real classroom experience through our Grow Our Own internship program.
Tyanna interned as a teacher assistant, working primarily with Kindergarten students. She supported student learning, helped with assessments and assignments, and assisted teachers with grading and paperwork. She chose this internship to explore different learning styles, gain insight into classroom management, and grow her skills as a future educator! Tyanna hopes to pursue a Master’s in Elementary Education and ultimately earn a guaranteed contract with Chesapeake Public Schools! 👏 💬 “My experience has been nothing but wonderful. I bonded with so many students and they all were so loving.” Thank you, Tyanna, for your passion, heart, and dedication! 🌟

ReNaya Williams is a rising senior at Grassfield High School who participated in the Grow Our Own internship program this summer. 🌱 She worked in the Department of School Plants. ✨ All aboard! Thank you to the families that attended our Get on the Bus event at the Chesapeake Conference Center. 🚌 Hosted by our Family and Community Engagement team, we were able to bring families together for free school supplies, free sports physicals, free immunizations, enrollment support, an opportunity to meet the administrators from each school, and more to ensure students are prepared for the #FirstDayCPSVA. 🎒📚 Special thanks to our wonderful community partners for ensuring our students are healthy, active, engaged, and ready to "Get on the Bus." 🙌🌟
