Congratulations to the more than 70 students from the Chesapeake Career Center who committed to entering the workforce last night during the annual Career Signing Day at Tidewater Community College! 🎉🖊📝🎈
They were joined by their future employers, instructors, family, and friends to celebrate signing their letters of intent. Employment contracts included 911 dispatchers, firefighters, healthcare providers, cosmetology specialists, and other roles in many careers. We are so proud of our students for choosing to start their careers and make an impact in our community. 🚒👩⚕️💅👨🔧👷♀️
We also recognized seven students, one from each high school, with the J. A. Cotton Career Scholar Award. These students each received $1,000 to help them jumpstart their professional futures. It's a family affair! Danielle Saitta from WTKR News 3 visited our Chesapeake Career Center on Friday to talk to two seniors, Hayden Tayloy and Alexander Hagen, and their grandfathers, Glenn Brown and Robert Head. Both Head and Brown formally served as Assistant Principals at CCC and reflected on the changes to the school and the welding and HVAC industries with their grandsons.

911 students had to write their own directions, and then follow them on how to make slime. This fun activity helped to show them the importance of having specific and detailed protocols, procedures and policies.
