Here is the last Month of the Military Child fact of the day: since the 1970s, military families have grown so much that military children now outnumber actual U.S. troops by a ratio of 1.4 to 1. Sure, it's not a huge margin, but it tells you that military children and families are important to service! Military-connected students make many sacrifices to support their families, and we celebrate them this month as a thank you for that sacrifice. We love our military-connected Hornets!

Congratulations to the AFJROTC Drill team for their overall 1st Place finish at the Spring District Competition. Out of 7 events, Deep Creek placed 1st in five of them and 2nd in the other two. Cadet Matthew Waller also placed 1st place in the Armed Solo Exhibition event.
Here is today’s Month of the Military Child fact of the day: the first woman to serve in the military, Deborah Sampson, enlisted with a fake male identity in order to fight in the American Revolution in 1782. She was not detected as a female until multiple injuries led to discovery that she was a woman, at which point she was honorably discharged in 1783.

If you purchased your cap and gown, Jostens will be here at DCHS April 24 & 25 to distribute your cap & gown. Honor Regalia can be purchased at that time. Students eligible for honors are those who have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Jostens will have a copy of our GPA list. Students with a 4.0 & higher can purchase Cord, Stole, Tassel. Students with a 3.0 or higher can purchase 3.0 Stole & tassel. Honor Regalia cost the following Tassel $10.00 Stole $17.00, Cord $10.00. Jostens will be taking exact change only.
The DCHS chapter of DECA is participating in a community service project to support the Chesapeake Humane Society. The chapter's goal is to collect at least 100 cans of pet food, and any other pet related items are appreciated as well.
Here is today’s Month of the Military Child fact of the day: military brats move an average of 10 times while growing up, and some have moved as many as 36 times.
