A sea of Red, White, and Blue for our DCMS Heroes! ❤️🤍💙
Today was all about gratitude as we hosted our Military Family Luncheon. There is nothing more powerful than seeing our students’ faces light up while sharing a meal with their personal heroes. 🍔✨
To our military families: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and for being such a vital part of our school community. We are so proud to serve you!
A huge DCMS shout-out to the team that made this magic happen:
Ms. Cason (Our incredible Military Counselor)
Mr. Clay (Guidance & Military Sponsor)
The Bayside Boys for the world-class grilling 🌭
The Savvy Senior Connections for serving our families with such kindness.
What does student-centered learning look like in your child’s classroom? In Chesapeake Public Schools, our teachers are creating engaging, meaningful learning experiences for students. In our latest episode, nationally recognized educator, author, and speaker Dr. Catlin Tucker joins us to highlight how this work is taking shape in our classrooms, from increasing student voice and choice to building stronger connections that support learning. 🎧 Listen at cpschools.com/amplified or wherever you get your podcasts.

The 7th grade took over Monticello on Friday for a field trip to remember. Seeing our students out in the sunshine, learning and laughing together, is what it’s all about.

Today at DCMS, we "Purpled Up" to honor our incredible military-connected students. Being part of a military family takes a special kind of resilience, and we are so proud that you call our hallways home. To our students and their families: thank you for your service and for making our community stronger every day. 🇺🇸✨

From the hallways to the classrooms, Mrs. Reynolds, Dr. Page, and Mr. Smith work tirelessly to support our students, staff, and families. We are so grateful for their leadership, heart, and Hornet pride!

Huge thank you to the teams from the Great Bridge Battlefield Waterways Museum and Parks for spending the week with our 7th graders. Our students got a front-row seat to the stories that shaped Virginia, and we couldn’t be more grateful for these local experts.

This morning, our amazing Admin team pulled off a total surprise "We Appreciate You" pancake breakfast! There is nothing like the smell of fresh pancakes in the hallway to make us feel like a family.
A huge thank you to our leadership for filling our plates and our hearts before the first bell rang.
Our students took "get comfortable with a book" literally today! We’re celebrating Reading Month by trading school clothes for pajamas and diving into some incredible stories.
Huge shoutout to our 7th/8th Combined Chorus and 8th Grade Ensemble for earning top marks in both performance and sight reading today. They didn't just hit the notes—they crushed them! 🎶✨

Today was Toe-riffic Thursday for Reading Month, and the sock game was on another level. From fuzzy favorites to wild patterns, our students showed off their unique styles while diving into their favorite books.
Today’s Reading Month theme is "Reading Jogs the Mind," and our hallways look like a championship finish line. From jerseys to joggers, our students are proof that training your brain is just as important as training for the game.
We loved seeing so many personalities shine through for Hat Day. Whether they were rocking a vintage look or a fan-favorite team cap, our students reminded us that reading is always in style.
Middle school is better when we’re celebrating together. Stay tuned for the rest of our Spirit Week fun!
