Recently our upper level Spanish students volunteered at Deep Creek Elementary Schools PEP night! These students assisted families with hands on literacy and math activities and provided Spanish translation support! Great job Grizzlies!

All clear on the tracks! 🚂🚦 Mr. Panuganti's STEM Engineering & Computer Science students just brought real-world automation to life! Using Hummingbird robotics kits, they built and programmed an automatic railroad crossing system from scratch. How it works: 📡 Distance sensors detect an incoming train early 🚧 Gates lower automatically to secure the track ✅ The train passes safely while keeping everyone protected! From line-of-code to physical motion, our students were 100% hands-on and engaged every step of the way. Turns out our favorite foods, from Horchata and Jambalaya to Spam Musubi and Tres Leches cake, are actually packed with sociological meaning. In sociology class, they explored how social institutions, trade routes, and culture shape everything on our plates. 10/10 would analyze (and eat) again!

Tonight our boys and girls volleyball teams held thier annual PINK OUT 💕 game to raise funds to donate to breast cancer research!

Taco ’Bout a Winning Design! Congratulations to Courhin Campos (pictured) and Sadie Cannon from Mrs. Shea’s Fashion Careers 1 class! The duo took home the Student Category win at the annual Bra-ha-ha with their creative and eye-catching creation, “Taco ’Bout the Girls”! 👏🎉

Congratulations Griz Cheer! They took first place at the SED Cheer Competition! 💙🏆❤️

In Mrs. Lewis's Sociology class, our students dove into a case study on the iconic French baguette! We explored how simple ingredients can become a UNESCO-recognized symbol of national heritage, representing an entire culture's daily rituals and values of democracy and community.

To bring the lesson to life, students analyzed the material and non-material aspects of culture, and naturally, we had to test the "material culture" ourselves with some fresh baguettes and butter!

Mrs. Harrell’s Earth Science students took their learning beyond the classroom today with a field trip to the Old Dominion University Planetarium! 🌎✨ Students watched Firefall and explored fascinating topics about Earth, space, and the forces that shape our planet and universe. It was a great day of learning, discovery, and discussion! 🌌🔭

Today in Mrs. Clendenin’s Psychology class, students explored the structure and function of neurons by creating their own neuron models using candy! Who knew learning about the brain could be this sweet?
