Last Thursday, we gathered for our district retirement ceremony to celebrate the “Noteworthy Impact” our 2026 retirees have made across Chesapeake Public Schools. 💙✨

Together, we honored 166 dedicated employees whose service, leadership, and compassion have helped shape the lives of students, staff, families, and our entire community. Together, they represent 3,499 collective years of commitment to public education and student success. #CPSCelebrates #EmpowerCPS

Students, colleagues, and community members across the district are sending in their thanks for our incredible teachers. 🍎 Here is a shout-out for Adam Casassa at Grassfield High:

“Mr. Casassa has made a profound impact on my junior year. He is my STEM teacher, and while he is great at teaching global communications, I appreciate him even more as a person. He is always willing to help me, but he does it in a way that actually makes me learn. He doesn't just give me the answer; he makes me really think about the material taught and try to apply it in different ways. He tries to remind us each day that in the real world, things won't just be handed to you, and I wish more teachers did that. I adore going to his class, and every day he pushes me to become a better person.” -A Student

Big things happening with our STEM crew!

A dedicated group of students spent their Saturday competing in the Digital Ship Challenge after months of designing, building, testing, and documenting their projects.

Students competed in two divisions: One team designed submersible devices that could dive underwater, navigate a path, and return to the surface. The other built robotic devices controlled with zero visibility, relying only on sensors to navigate a grid of obstacles.

Today we had a great time at our Grassfield Military Cookout! 🇺🇸 This event was open to all of our students who are military kids as part of Month of the Military Child. It was a small way for us to show appreciation for the strength, resilience, and sacrifices these students make every day. We are proud to celebrate and support our military connected Grizzlies, not just today, but all year long. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community! 💜
