🇺🇸 Remembering 9/11 🇺🇸 Today, we honor the memory of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 🕊️ Let us never forget the courage of the first responders, the resilience of our nation, and the strength of unity that emerged from the darkest of days.🗽 #NeverForget #September11 #UnitedWeStand

Congratulations to Kimberly Hammers from Grassfield High School! 🎉 She was named a National Civics Teacher of the Year Finalist by the Bill of Rights Institute. The finalists were chosen after a nationwide search that encouraged educators, students, parents, and community members to submit outstanding civics teachers for consideration.
All finalists earned a $1,000 prize from the Bill of Rights Institute. The National Civics Teacher of the Year announcement will be held during their Constitution Day Live program on September 15, 2023.

September marks Attendance Awareness Month! 🍎
We hope that you are having a great first week of school! Starting as early as kindergarten, a student's attendance plays a vital role in their academic success. By the time they reach 6th grade, chronic absence can become a troubling predictor of potential dropout risks. Remember, achievement begins with showing up! #AttendanceMattersVA

Reminder for Families! Your student’s assigned 🚍 bus route information is available on our website, using our Bus Stop Lookup Tool, and in ParentVUE, by selecting “additional information” under “Student Info.” In order to create more efficient routes for our drivers and families, the Department of Transportation makes a significant number of route and bus stop changes during the first 3-4 weeks of school. As a result, the School BusHub App may not work for your student until these changes are finalized. We encourage you to check back frequently.

Welcome #BacktoSchoolVA! 🍎
Anticipation is in the air as our Chesapeake School Board eagerly awaits the return of over 40,000 students to our schools on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Here’s to an incredible #FirstDayCPSVA and a fantastic year ahead! 🎉🌟

📚👋 🐻 Welcome back, Grizzlies! We hope you had a fantastic summer break. It's time to dive back into the world of learning and fun. 🎉
📅 Tomorrow is an A day. Don't forget to check your schedules on StudentVue and, if possible, print your schedule for reference on the first day. Students may not enter the building prior to 8:35 a.m. Upon arrival, students should report directly to their homeroom or directly to the food court for breakfast. Students may drop off instruments before they report to homeroom. On your first days of arrival, staff members will be in the hallways, at the student parking and drop-off entrance (2A), and on the bus ramp to direct students where to go.
💻 Students who have not picked up their Chromebook will be called down during their homeroom. Passwords did not get reset this year, so students should be able to login through OneLogin with ease.
🍔 Lunchtimes are determined by who you have for 3rd period teacher. Ask your homeroom teacher for more information.
🚍 Bus routes may be found on the CPS website (www.cpschools.com). Students should review and memorize their bus route number. Students will remain on the buses until 8:35 a.m.
🚘 Students should be dropped off and picked-up at entrance 2A (the auditorium entrance) and can be dropped off no earlier than 8:35 a.m. Students may be picked-up beginning at 3:53. Please watch for students crossing the parking lot and medians during these times.
♥️💙 Finally, Let's make this school year the best one yet! Don’t be afraid to ask any staff member for help locating a classroom or navigating the hallways.🌟 #BackToSchool #TheGrizzlyWay
