They sharpened their skills by collecting real-world data and then brought it to life! Students created tally charts, bar graphs, and colorful pictographs to analyze their findings. What a fun, engaging way to master critical math and analysis skills! ✨

📢 Calling all future Chesapeake Public Schools families in the City of Chesapeake!
We are exploring the establishment of new preschool centers to meet the growing need for high-quality early childhood education. If you live in our district and have children ages 0-4 or are planning to have children, your voice is essential!
Help us plan for the future of our youngest learners by sharing your needs and priorities in our new Early Childhood Education Survey. Your input will shape these vital programs!
📋 Survey is open NOW - December 18: www.cpschools.com/surveys

Our First Graders put their engineering caps on, diligently building and testing their innovative boats for the Recycle Regatta. 🚢♻️ They're learning all about design, buoyancy, and reusing materials! At the next station, our Third Graders transformed into expert scientists, investigating the fascinating effect of water temperature on dissolving solutions. 🌡️⚗️
What an inspiring week of hands-on science, technology, engineering, and real-world problem-solving! ✨
This week in the library, Ms. Baynor is bringing coding to life! She made sure our students were prepared by teaching them foundational programming skills last week using Code.org.
With that knowledge under their belts, our second-grade stars met Dash the coding bot and did an absolutely amazing job giving him commands and watching their code come to life. ✨ Watching them problem-solve and celebrate their successful programs was incredible!
What an exciting way to celebrate innovation and collaboration!

Mrs. Logsdon's 3rd graders were hands-on investigators in the STEAM Lab last week, exploring the colorful and fun world of mixtures! They experimented with combining different ingredients and observing the changes, learning all about how things come together. 🧠✨
We even got a fantastic, spontaneous assist! Tiffany Nichols from the Science Department was in the building and jumped right in when she saw the science fun happening! We love this kind of team spirit and dedication to supporting our students' learning. Thank you, Tiffany! 🤝
Our amazing Kindergarten scientists were in the STEAM Lab this week, investigating the concepts of force and motion using the super cool Lego Spike Kits! They built Lego Taxis and watched what happens when you give an object a soft or strong push.
A huge shout-out to Tiffany Nichols from the Science Department for visiting our lab and ensuring everything ran smoothly! We love this true team effort in bringing hands-on learning to our youngest innovators. Thank you for helping our students build and explore! ✨🤝
💙🚀 Ms. Roselle's 2nd-grade class took learning out of the classroom this week at the incredible Children's Museum of Portsmouth! Seeing their curiosity ignite in a new environment is what it's all about! 💡🔬 What a fantastic trip for our future innovators! ✨

This fun activity teaches them how to collect, organize, and represent data (horizontally and vertically!)—a foundational skill for all their future learning. Look at these amazing data scientists at work! 🧠✏️

We are so proud to share the beautiful Trees of Gratitude created by our students and their families! This wonderful home project, inspired by the story Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks, truly shows the unique blessings our GTP families are grateful for—from fuzzy pets, loving siblings, and wonderful grandparents. Thank you for partnering with us to teach the importance of gratitude this season. 🙏✨

Our Georgetown Primary young scientists have been diving into the world of Matter and Force & Motion.
They used a delicious root beer float investigation to observe and identify the characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases—learning key concepts with a tasty reward! 🍦🥤
Students also explored Force and Motion with hands-on activities. They sharpened their skills on how gravity works by conducting a "Gravity Race," and warmed up their minds by identifying examples of push and pull. Science exploration is always a dynamic adventure at Georgetown Primary! ✨💡

We are officially diving into fall with our favorite class friend, Squashy Jason Sylvester! He's been keeping a watchful eye on all the amazing learning happening as our students explore the season.
From hands-on leaf investigations to seasonal creative projects, Mrs. Yohe’s class is embracing all the fun this colorful time of year has to offer. We love seeing our young learners engage with nature!

💙📚We are absolutely thrilled to announce the 2025-2026 GTP Reading Teacher of the Year: the incredible Alyssa Banas! 🌟 Ms. Banas embodies the heart of Georgetown Primary, going above and beyond to help each and every student find their love for reading and achieve their very best. What an inspiration to our GTP family! Congratulations, Ms. Banas! 🏆🎉📖

Our Georgetown Primary young learners dove into some delicious math, turning snacks into essential concepts! They mastered Place Value Munchies, where Cheez-Its became hundreds, pretzel sticks were tens, and M&M's were ones. What a tasty way to practice composing, decomposing, standard, and word form! 🥨🧀🍬
The math fun continued with Roll & Compare, a lively game that helped students sharpen their number comparison skills. Hands-on activities like these make abstract concepts concrete and set a strong foundation for future mathematical success! ✨✏️

Our Kindergarten students in Mrs. McLain's class designed their one-of-a-kind monsters! Then, the talented students in Ms. Engebretsen's Fashion Design class at IRHS took those designs and created them as real plush pals! What an incredible display of community, creativity, and partnership. Braves is who we are; RISE is what we do. Keep shining, everyone! ✨

The upcoming holiday season is filled with excitement, but it can also be a time when some of our families need a little extra support. 💛 🎙 In our newest episode of Amplified, we sit down with Lisa Kerry, one of our Family & Community Engagement (FACE) specialists and Nischelle Buffalow from Buffalow Family and Friends to talk about partnership, compassion, and how our community works together to make sure no one feels alone this season. 🎧 Hear the stories, learn how to access support, and discover ways to get involved at cpschools.com/amplified or wherever you get your podcasts. #EmpowerCPS #CPSCelebrates
