🗓️ BRUIN WALKABOUT (Tuesday, September 2nd): This evening gives your child a chance to walk their schedule, find their classrooms, and get comfortable with the building before the official first day. Expect student schedules to be available on-site.
6th Grade Families: 5:30 PM
7th & 8th Grade Families: 6:00 PM
(Please note: While teachers won't be on-site, we will hold a short meeting for our incoming 6th graders to talk through what to expect on day one and help ease those first-day jitters.)

Mrs. Nguedjip joins us as a Special Education teacher, bringing a heart full of dedication to help our students Build Excellence and Achieve Results this school year!
As part of a military family relocating within Virginia, Mrs. Nguedjip comes with her husband—who serves in the military and is a pastor at their church—and their three wonderful daughters who bring non-stop joy, laughter, and adventure to her life. She loves traveling and exploring new cultures, having recently returned from an amazing trip to Europe! Plus, in addition to English, she also speaks French.

Ms. Middleton is joining us as a Special Education teacher, bringing her background in behavioral and mental health to empower our students to Build Excellence and Achieve Results!
Holding a B.S. in Sociology from Old Dominion University, Ms. Middleton has always had a strong passion for working with children across all age groups. She is a proud mom to her 5-year-old daughter, Harlem (who was born on Christmas Day 2020 and is starting Kindergarten this year!). When she isn't supporting students, Ms. Middleton loves building Legos and taking care of her plant collection during her leisure time.

Welcome to BRUIN Country, Ms. Kopejtka! 🐻
Ms. Kopejtka joins us as a Special Education teacher, making the jump from elementary to middle school, and we are so excited to have her help our students Build Excellence and Achieve Results this year!
Originally from New Mexico, Ms. Kopejtka is a Navy veteran who is moving back to the area from Georgia. Having previously taught in Chesapeake a few years ago, she is thrilled to return! Outside of school, she is super close with her mom and sister and loves spoiling her two nieces.
She leaves us with a favorite Harry Potter quote from Albus Dumbledore: "It is our choices... that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

Mrs. Sorce brings 26 years of experience teaching middle school orchestra in Chesapeake and is ready to strike a harmony in helping our students Build Excellence and Achieve Results this school year!
A Western Branch local where she lives with her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Sorce has been making music since she was just 4 years old when she first started playing the violin. In addition to the violin, she plays the viola, cello, bass, clarinet, and piano! Fun fact: during her very first year of teaching, she co-taught 6th grade orchestra right here at WBM!

Her passion for teaching has taken her all over the world, including living in Sicily, Italy, and teaching on the Sigonella Naval Base for Department of Defense Schools. An avid traveler and hiker, she spent last summer on a Viking River cruise in Europe and recently hiked the Azores Islands of Portugal!
She leaves us with an empowering reminder from Nelson Mandela: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

A local who grew up right in Suffolk, Mrs. Herrmann lives in Western Branch with her husband, Rickie, and her kids, Garrett and Claire. After spending five incredible years living in Japan and traveling across Asia to explore different cultures, her family loves camping, traveling, and hitting the beach whenever they can.

When she isn't in the classroom making math click, you can find her hiking, skiing, listening to music, or hanging out with her family and her friendly Labrador, Elmer. A fun fact about Ms. Hughes: four years ago, she developed a rare tick-borne allergy to red meat and has been navigating it like a pro ever since.
