This week, Western Branch Middle School Chorus Director Kyle Cook traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, where he was honored as a 2026 Music Teacher of Excellence by the Country Music Association Foundation! As part of this incredible honor, Mr. Cook participated in professional development, collaborated with music educators from across the country, and connected with teachers who share his passion for making music education accessible, meaningful, and impactful for students. The week culminated in a truly unforgettable, star-studded celebration featuring Keith Urban, Zac Brown, Tucker Wetmore, and Carrie Manolakos, along with a very special pre-recorded message from none other than the Queen herself — Dolly Parton! 👑 More importantly, the evening served as a powerful reminder of the role music education plays in our schools and communities. Music gives students a place to belong, a way to find their voice, and an opportunity to learn lessons that reach far beyond the classroom.
