On Saturday, Indian River High School hosted Operation Military Families! Operation Military Families allowed for our district's military families to participate in information sessions and fun activities for students.
Throughout the evening, families were able to get complimentary family portraits taken by Lifetouch, enjoy performances by the U.S. Fleet Forces Band Woodwind Quartet, eat a pizza dinner and learn about resources offered to military families in our area.
Special thanks to Captain Matt Frauenzimmer for taking the time to speak to our families and the Office of Family and Community Engagement for continuing their commitment to serving our community.
We honored our volunteers with a special breakfast. Entertainment was provided by a selection of first and second grade students. We love our volunteers!
Mrs. Hoy's and Mrs. Mutter's classes learned about weaving (and patience) during an exploration of the contributions of American Indians this week.
Mrs. Stockton's class followed the directions in their textbook to create musical shakers using beans and plastic bottles. What a fun way to end the week!

WBP held Military Parades for all of our students to thank our Military Families for their service.
On Earth Day, Mr. Burke's art class created stepping stones for our Learning Garden.
After weeks of reading all the stories, it's finally Virginia Reader's Choice voting week! We are so grateful to Mrs. Judy for making this experience magical for our students!
The Second Grade field trip to the Learning Barge was a huge success! Students learned about conservation efforts, animals native to our area and the wetlands in this amazing hands on experience.
