Meet our College and Career Readiness Interns! 📚
🍎 Ashlynn Calyor, Oscar Smith High
🍎 Layla Baez, Great Bridge High
🍎 Camaire Johnson, Western Branch High
They have been working in this summer program by assisting the teachers 👩🏫 in their classrooms during CTE electives. They were able to meet amazing teachers, teacher assistants, and other CPS employees who have helped them throughout their experience. Their job was to travel from class to class with one group of students each week allowing them to get to know each student. One of their interns Ashlynn participated in this internship last year and enjoyed it so much that she chose to do it again! 😁

Meet Alison Cruz-Martinez! Alison is a rising senior at Grassfield working with Strategic Planning. Alison expressed that her experience as an intern was incredibly enriching and dynamic. She was involved in a variety of tasks, from researching 📚best practices in educational policy to assisting with the development of strategic initiatives aimed at improving student performance and school efficiency. She had the opportunity to attend meetings 👥where critical policy decisions were made and was able to contribute by preparing reports and analyzing 🧐data related to ongoing projects. Her favorite part of this experience was participating in the strategic planning sessions where new initiatives were discussed and developed.

Our “Grow Our Own” Interns have been up to many things this summer!☀️
Meet Katelynn Diehl! Katelynn is a rising senior at Great Bridge High School working with the Communications Department 👩💻. She decided to participate in this internship because she wanted to learn more about the communications field in hopes to pursue a career in Sports Journalism ⚾. Katelynn’s favorite part of her experience was getting to work on all the different kinds of projects like these social media posts.

Did you know that our “Grow Our Own” interns are not only getting hands-on experience and a paycheck 💵 but also take an online course to get high school credit?
Meet Rian Windham! Rian is a rising senior at Western Branch working with Student Activities. Rian chose this internship because he loves sports 🏀🏈⚽️⚾️ and wants to learn more about the department and the skills it acquires. His experience was filled with fun as he got to learn more about student activities, VHSL, and mental health. He believes this was a great way to explore future career paths in hopes to one day go into sports management or marketing. 📈
