👏 Congratulations to Indian River High School and B M Williams Primary for completing Project ADAM training and officially becoming Heart Safe!
❤️Earlier this year, Indian River High made history as the first school in Chesapeake to complete training and implement a cardiac emergency response plan, ensuring quick action in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. And just last week, B M Williams followed suit, becoming the second Heart Safe school in the city!

📚 Big Adventures for Little Learners! 📚
Yesterday, Chesapeake Preschool Initiative (CPI) students from Western Branch Primary took a special trip to the Russell Memorial Library for its grand reopening!
🏫The students had an absolute blast exploring the newly renovated children’s area, diving into stories, singing songs, and making magical memories. 🎶
💡 A few of the students even had the opportunity to play with the interactive Lite Brite wall display created by Western Branch High School students!
CPI is a FREE full-day program for children in Chesapeake who turn 4 years old by September 30, 2025! 🌟 Now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year!

Our Multicultural Talent Showcase was a spectacular celebration of culture and creativity! 🎶🎭
From Zara Rahim’s 🎻 moving violin performance to the G.W. Carver Intermediate School Step Team’s 👣 high-energy routine, every act was unforgettable. Deep Creek HS Drama students delivered powerful poetry, while Sumona Apsara Parii dazzled with a breathtaking dance. 📝💃 Mis raíces bailan lit up the stage with vibrant Hispanic dance, and Kevin Washington closed the night with a passionate piano performance. 🎹
Special thanks to Deep Creek HS and to our Office of Family and Community Engagement for hosting such a fun night for families!

📚 DE courses allow students to earn dual credit - both high school credit towards graduation and college credit. At this event, participants will learn how they can jump start college while in high school.

🚀 Career Exploration in Action! 🎉
Last week, 11th and 12th grade students across the city participated in the Job Shadowing Program, an incredible opportunity to step into the real world of work!
Students spent the day shadowing local professionals, gaining firsthand experience in various career fields, and exploring their interests. This hands-on experience helps build career awareness, strengthen decision-making skills, and connect students with businesses in the community.
