🎙️ Hall Pass to History: Indian River High School

Last week was Virginia Principals Appreciation Week, and we’re celebrating the leadership that helps schools “RISE.” In this episode, IRHS junior Adrian Langaster sets the stage for a conversation with Principal Naomi Dunbar and former Principal James L. Frye on what makes IRHS feel like family and how they “RISE” together. From murals and modernization to pep rallies, mentorship, and moments of care that define a community, this story shows how culture is built day by day, person by person.

🕊️ Happy MLK Day, Little Braves!

We hope you are enjoying your day off! We can't wait to see everyone back tomorrow.

Why does every day count? Attendance plays a huge role in our school's accreditation success! 🌟 Plus, when Braves stay home, they miss out on the best parts of the day—like hands-on science experiments and special moments with their "Class Family." 🧩📚

Let's beat the post-holiday slump and keep our momentum going! Our day of learning kicks off at 7:35 AM. Let's fill every seat and have a great week!

Braves are who we are, RISE is what we do! 🪶💙

Starting the week with a sweet look back! 💙🪶

We are still smiling about how we ended last week in Ms. Roselle’s room. Our Braves were hard at work mastering financial literacy with partner task cards—counting coins and making change is a skill we can bank on! 🧠💰

But we also made time for some serious fun. 🎶 For Flashback Friday, the class rated older songs and sang their hearts out. The top pick? A very passionate performance of Viva La Vida by Coldplay! 🎤🎻

Hard work + Happy hearts = The Brave Way. Let’s make this week just as great!

💙📣 Our Braves brought the ENERGY today! 📣💙

We kicked off our PBIS Relaunch with a massive celebration, and our school family definitely knows how to RISE to the occasion! ✨ From "professional" air guitar solos 🎸 to mastering the flamingo pose 🦩, the spin-the-wheel challenges kept us all laughing and cheering. And if you know, you know... six seveeeeen! 🤫👋

A HUGE shoutout to our brave staff members who went above and beyond (and maybe got a little warm 🥵) to make this day special. Thank you to Ms. Bohne, Ms. Sawyer, and Ms. May for joining the admin team, and to Mrs. Chrisman for suiting up in those "not-so-cool" inflatables! 🦖💨 And to our teachers shaking those pom poms—thank you for bringing the spirit! 🎉🙌

It was a beautiful reminder of our mission: Braves is who we are, RISE is what we do. 💪
