
Mrs. Barnhart and her Latin students took a field trip to the Chrysler last Tuesday and had an amazing time! We are grateful for the Chrysler museum's partnership which is made this opportunity available to our students.



Nutrition & Wellness class spent the last two Wednesday classes after SOLs in blind taste testing, trying 15 different food or drink items like Spam, Chai, and tuna. Crowd favorite was Harry Potter Butter Beer Goldfish while the biggest loser was fermented red cabbage and apples.








The public speaking students made their final visit to Southeastern Elementary last week. It was a full circle moment as the high school students, many of whom are seniors, read stories, orchestrated classroom games, and even got to participate in recess.

Students in Mrs. Laumann's Intro2culinary recently held their flip-flop rice krispies competition along with their first “Cookie Thursday” of the year! They learned about the conversion of recipes as well as public relations skills in business production!

Lucia and Scarlett Rainaldi were recognized by the school board for winning 1st Place in the Class 5 Humorous Duo Interpretation in the State’s Speech Competition! 🥇They are coached by Mrs. Mary Faith Williams! 🎉


Senior Class President, Vicky Newberry and SCA President, Lynley McGregor were recognized by the school board for their contributions and hard work to help make Hickory SOAR!



The Hickory Custodial Team earned top honors this weekend at the annual Custodial Banquet, earning a Superior rating for year! This award is the highest a team can earn, and is a testament to the work they do each and every day at Hickory High! We are so proud of you, Mr. Harper, and the entire Custodial Team at HHS!

On May 12, two HHS Seniors were honored by the Chesapeake Sports Club. Both Ashlyn Martel and Charlotte Petchel were recipients of scholarships given to students who excel in academics, athletics, and student leadership. Ashlyn Martel was also the recipient of the "Buddy" Bagley Community Service Award! Congratulations, Ashlyn and Charlotte!

🏆 The HHS PTSA swept the annual CCPTA Awards last week! They were honored in the following categories: 100% Faculty Membership, Local Achievement, and Volunteer Hours (with a whopping 34,445 hours earned!). Our own Nikki Burris, HHS PTSA President, was honored as President of the Year, Life Achievement Award, and President's Honor Award!
We are so proud of you, Nikki, and the time and energy you give to the students of HHS!



The HHS Dance Troupe Spring Concert is Friday, May 30, at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
