Congratulations to the more than 70 students from the Chesapeake Career Center who committed to entering the workforce last night during the annual Career Signing Day at Tidewater Community College! 🎉🖊📝🎈 They were joined by their future employers, instructors, family, and friends to celebrate signing their letters of intent. Employment contracts included 911 dispatchers, firefighters, healthcare providers, cosmetology specialists, and other roles in many careers. We are so proud of our students for choosing to start their careers and make an impact in our community. 🚒👩‍⚕️💅👨‍🔧👷‍♀️ We also recognized seven students, one from each high school, with the J. A. Cotton Career Scholar Award. These students each received $1,000 to help them jumpstart their professional futures. Thank you to the Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation for sponsoring these awards! #InspireCPS #CPSCelebrates You can view the full photo album here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Y3LgXtjcP9T8N4wD9

Today, the student councils from our seven high schools enjoyed their end-of-the-year celebration at Chesapeake City Park! 🌏🌲 Over 175 SCA members and their sponsors spent time in the park completing service projects, learning about the value of community service, enjoying a celebratory cookout, and spending time with their friends from across the district. Thank you to the Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads for coordinating these projects for our student councils and for their commitment to serving our community and youth. 👏 #CPSCelebrates #InspireCPS #EmpowerCPS

It's a family affair! Danielle Saitta from WTKR News 3 visited our Chesapeake Career Center on Friday to talk to two seniors, Hayden Tayloy and Alexander Hagen, and their grandfathers, Glenn Brown and Robert Head. Both Head and Brown formally served as Assistant Principals at CCC and reflected on the changes to the school and the welding and HVAC industries with their grandsons. Today, teachers across the district were surprised with gold medals and certificates from Superintendent Dr. Cotton for being champions in teaching! We received over 2,000 messages of appreciation for teachers throughout our district during Teacher Appreciation Week. Ten teachers were randomly selected from these thousands of messages for this special awards ceremony. We were blown away by the volume and sincerity of the messages our teachers received over the last week. Thank you to everyone who participated in showing love and appreciation for the teachers in our district. It was our honor to award these medals on your behalf!
