Congrats to AFJROTC Hornets graduating from Virginia Tech! William Christian is heading into the Air Force as a meteorologist and Archie Hill was commissioned into the US Space Force. 2023 grad Natalie Lawson is also excelling as a sophomore in ROTC. All earned scholarships.

Congrats to the AFJROTC Raider Teams! The Open Team led by Seniors Hayden Thompson and Braden Krum placed 1st and the Coed Team led by Cadets Annabelle Gladhill, Saniya Velazquez, and April Salsbury also placed 1st. The competition was at Ft. Eustis Army base and cadets raced other schools through 16 obstacles spanning over a quarter mile.

Last Thursday, we gathered for our district retirement ceremony to celebrate the “Noteworthy Impact” our 2026 retirees have made across Chesapeake Public Schools. 💙✨

The DCHS Lady Hornet softball team won another game against #2 ranked Great Bridge last night by a final of 4-3. Hailey Lack singled with two outs to drive in Hannah Liddell as the Hornets moved to 14-1 this season. Two more big games loom as we go on the road next week to Grassfield and Western Branch.

Congratulations to our AFJROTC Honor Guard Cadets Greyson Waller, Zavion Cooper, Miyah Evans, and Kaleah Mann for placing 2nd at the Virginia State Drill Meet. Cadet Mann also commanded the Unarmed Exhibition team that placed 2nd, and our Armed Exhibition team led by Cadets Mason Burton and Zavion Cooper placed 4th.

Last Friday night the Lady Hornets Softball team won their second game against a number one ranked opponent this season. They defeated a very good Ocean Lakes team by a final score of 6-4. Freshmen Finley Brant and Junior Izzy Shollenbarger both had timely two-run singles in the comeback victory. The team record is now 12-1 and has won eight straight games.

Chesapeake Public Schools Asynchronous Remote Learning Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Chesapeake Public Schools will operate on an Asynchronous Remote Learning Day due to the Virginia Special Election.

Students will work independently from home. Teachers will be available online for support during the scheduled bell times.

High School Schedule for Grades 9 through 12

Bell 1: 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM

Bell 2: 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM

Bell 3: 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM

Lunch: 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM

Bell 4: 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM

1:1 Support: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Important Reminders for Students

Assignments: All work will be posted in Canvas by 8:30 AM.
