Sun ☀ Salt ⬜ Sea 🌊 Sedimentary Lab 🔬 Yesterday, students from Hickory High and Oscar Smith High completed field observations, collected sediment samples, and used lab tools to measure wind speed, direction, ocean salinity, and more! This field trip to Little Island, Virginia Beach, is the first part of a lab assignment focused on shoreline features and sedimentary Geology. This outdoor lab was completed by students enrolled in Dual Enrollment (DE) Geology. Students have the opportunity to take DE courses beginning in the 11th grade. DE courses are offered in collaboration with Tidewater Community College (TCC). DE courses allow students to earn dual credit - both high school credit towards graduation and college credit. To learn more about DE courses and other ways we prepare students to be college and career ready, visit https://www.cpschools.com/page/college-readiness. Thank you, Mr. Williamson (OSH), Mr. Lesley (HHS), and Mr. Wieck (district science supervisor) for such an incredible day of outdoor learning! #InspireCPS
