Hickory Middle School Speech Team is CITY CHAMPIONS! 💙🔥
🌟 **1st Place – Prose**
Brielle Tanksley captivated the audience with her powerful and emotional reading of A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Her performance was moving, polished, and absolutely unforgettable!
🌟 **2nd Place – Original Oratory**
Skylar Twyman delivered a breathtaking and inspiring original speech, Dancing for the Soul, that lit up the room. Her passion, poise, and powerful message left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance!
We also want to recognize the incredible talent from our Chesapeake middle schools. The competition was fierce, and every student who performed showed courage, preparation, and creativity. We are proud not only of our wins, but of the way our team supported one another, cheered for others, and demonstrated true sportsmanship throughout the event. Winning with grace — and competing with respect — is what HMS is all about.
To our entire Speech Team — thank you for the hours of practice, the courage to perform, and the pride you bring to Hickory Middle School. We are beyond grateful and unbelievably proud to celebrate bringing home the City Championship! 🏆💙
Way to shine, Hawks! ✨
