🧪🧬️7th grade students participated in a Strawberry DNA extraction lab!🍓
👩🔬 All living things contain DNA, which is the genetic material that has the instructions for making more cells. When many DNA strands come together, they get tangled, which makes the liquid slimy. When you put the strawberry (part of a living thing) into a soapy liquid, the soap breaks down the cell walls of the strawberry and releases the strawberry DNA into the liquid. The DNA molecule inside each of your human cells is about 6 feet (or 2 meters) long!🧬️

📣Calling all Swifties! 🎶

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP (formerly known as “Food Stamps”) provides eligible households with food benefits.
Students in households that receive SNAP are also eligible for meals at no cost at school. Students who have access to SNAP are more likely to be in good health and miss less school. Many households may not be aware they qualify. To learn more and to apply, visit https://www.dss.virginia.gov/benefit/snap.cgi

Students in Mrs. Noblitt's and Mrs. Fisher's classes tested out the probability of genetics with Crazy Traits.🧬️ Random flips of a coin produced different genotypes and students used manipulatives to show the phenotypes in their experiment. 👾🤖
